Coach Sloan predicted rain as he
drove to BCS this morning, but your photographer
chose a white hat (expecting sun). We were
fortunate to avoid the drenching rain of the 2007
race.
BCS again won both of the varsity
races. The course came up 200m short of a 5K
distance, making it about 30 yards short of a 3 mile
course.

For the record:
"(T)he park
was greatly effected by the extension of Aurora
Avenue, which divided Upper Woodland Park from Lower
Woodland Park upon its completion in 1932."
from
HistoricSeattle.org. So all Cross Country races
run east of Aurora Avenue are officially in
Lower Woodland Park, no matter how
high on the hill the course is set.
In the early 1970's one Metro
League Northern Division course actually started on
the track and headed straight up to the Zoo,
crossing the south bridge over Aurora Avenue into
the Zoo and exiting across the north bridge.
The old Metro League championship course started
where our SAASy Strut race began and ended at the
top of the final steep uphill that the Emerald City
League runners faced today.
