We fully expected to face rain and high winds on this first day of running, jumping, and throwing (like on our Thursday arrival in Cheney), but the rain held off (mostly) and the wind, while significant, was nothing like it was to be on Saturday!

The first day of competition ended with BCS scoring only nine points, but qualifying a number of our girls in event finals the coming day.  Allison Hussey got the scoring started for the Vikings with an 8th place finish in the 3200m, and Mackenzie Allstate Altig captured 2nd in Long Jump.  More medals were to come in the 4x200m and  4x400m relays,  the 100m and 300m hurdles, the 200m dash, the 800m and 1600m runs, and  the Triple Jump.  The only question was the places and the colors of the ribbons.
