Sun, wind, and broken clouds settled down to a cloudless sunny late afternoon at Rainier High School, thirteen miles S.E. of Lacey, WA.  BCS joined teams from both the Evergreen and Trico leagues in WIAA District 4.  Juniors and seniors will remember our meet here in 2008.

Both BCS squads took 3rd place in this seven school meet.  Full meet results are available at Athletic.net.

The defending State 1A champions (the BCS girls) will contend for medals in Cheney but they graduated a solid core of sprinters and throwers and are rebuilding.  The State 4th place boys from 2009 have even farther to develop.  State trophies are the work of careers and not just single seasons.

Three BCS alums raced at the Spike Arlt Invitational at Central Washington University on Saturday, April 17th.  CWU freshman Kyle Fremd (four time State Track & Field medalist for BCS last year) ran the 200m, 400m, and ran on the winning 4x400m relay team.  BCS 1600m and 3200m record holder Andrew Van Ness, now a freshman at SPU, took 2nd out of 20 runners in the 1500m with a time of 4:05.15.  Sophomore teammate Nathanael Sleight ran in both the 800m and 1500m where he has specialized at SPU.
