The BCS girls captured 2nd place (out of 20 schools) and the boys captured 3rd place (out of 18)  in the WIAA 1A Tri-District Championships held at King's High School in Shoreline, and they were both the top placing schools from District 2 (the Emerald City League.)

For the Vikings, this was a day of thrills and spills.  Top on the list was the 9:46.92 in the 3200m posted by senior Andrew Van Ness.  This was the 2nd BCS record he set this week. (Of course, I get to make the list and I was a two miler, and I get to be his photographer at SPU again next year! -- Doc SL8)

The three girls relays were very strong, while the two boys relays were . . . well, let's say you had to be there.  The BCS boys 4x100m relay took the Tri-District title.  And in his fourth event in which he qualified for State, senior Kyle Fremd moved the 4x400m relay team from 7th to 5th in the final lap of the day to ensure that every Viking relay team would be making the trip on Thursday to Cheney.

Mackenzie Altig won the 100m hurdles and the Triple Jump (35'-4") and then . . . coming out of the turn in the 300m hurdles, she had a spectacular crash.  But Dr. Teng bandaged her up and declared her fit to run in the 4x400m relay.  Despite an awkward start, she helped the girls 4x400m team take 2nd place.  (I recall that we get our word "agony" from the Greek word for race.)

Vikings qualified for State in a variety of events.  Aaron Iseman took 3rd in the Long Jump at 20'-10" and Michael Wilken took 4th in the High Jump at 5'-10".  The full results can be seen on Athletic.net.  You can read about the amazing day that Terra and Bree Oldham had, and that Stephanie Miller qualified for State in the discus with a 3rd place throw to match her 3rd place in the Shot Put on Thursday . . . but let the pictures tell the tale . . .
